The Manifesto

A Republic of Cloth

New Kotka Republic is not a brand. It is a sovereign declaration written in thread instead of ink.

The double-headed eagle on our flag faces two directions at once — one eye on the heritage of craft, the other on what has not yet been made. We exist in that tension. Between what was built to last and what has never been attempted.

The Founding

Every republic begins with a document. Ours is a flag — a rectangle of cloth bearing a symbol older than any living government. The double-headed eagle has stood for empire, church, and nation. We have conscripted it for cotton and wool.

Kotka means eagle in Finnish. The new republic is not a place on any map. It is a territory defined by what you choose to wear on your back and what that choice says about how you move through the world.

The Standard

We do not follow seasons. We declare them. Every stitch is a statute, every garment a proclamation. The republic does not ask permission to exist.

Our pieces are made in small runs from materials chosen for weight, hand, and endurance. When the fabric is gone, the piece is finished. We do not restock. We do not discount. A founding document does not go on sale.

On Heritage

The flag borrows the format of the California Republic — a state flag that became a symbol far beyond its borders. We borrow the format, not the meaning. Our eagle is not Californian. It is older and wider, drawn from the heraldic traditions of empires that understood that a symbol must work at any scale, on any surface, in any century.

Heritage is not nostalgia. It is the insistence that something made well today will still matter tomorrow.

Republic Values

Sovereignty of Craft

Every piece is constructed with the authority of a national seal. No shortcuts, no compromises, no apologies. The atelier answers to the standard, not the market.

Heraldic Identity

The double-headed eagle watches forward and backward. We honor tradition while declaring the future. Every emblem earned, every mark deliberate.

Republic Standard

No excess. No apology. Each garment meets the standard of a republic's founding document — built to endure scrutiny, designed to outlast the season.
